Sand Dunes

from $75.00

Sand Dunes was completed in 2009. Sand Dunes, as well as The Tall Grass, were painted when I was spending time during the summer doing the Art Show at Rehoboth Beach, and I looked forward to reconnecting to the ocean every summer. I now lived in Kentucky, and ached for the closeness to the coast. I grew up in the Philadelphia area, and the beach was our second home, a place of peace, hope and renewal.

The right side of the piece feels like the flags of boats, and the signs on small planes, billowing in the wind, as I peer at them from the hot sand. The left side reveals a sun setting over the horizon of the water, witnessed by my family as we walked the boards into the night, creating some of my sweetest childhood memories.
